Quick answer

  • Fastrack lists V8 drives, exotic car drives and passenger laps at Sandown.
  • Drivers need a provisional or full car licence, and size limits apply.
  • Rally School Australia lists a Melbourne location at Avalon.

Most Melbourne driving experiences happen at one place: Sandown, in the south east, where Fastrack runs V8 race car drives, Lamborghini, Ferrari and Lotus drives, and passenger hot laps. For rally, Rally School Australia lists a location at Avalon. Prices and rules were checked on the operators' own sites on 30 October 2026.

DrivingExperiences.com.au is a general information site operated by Dominet BV. We don't sell experiences or vouchers, take bookings or rank operators, and we don't receive payments from operators. Prices, age and licence rules, dates and voucher terms are set by each operator and change often, so check the operator's own page before you buy or book. Facts were checked on 30 October 2026. Read our general information notice. Melbourne prices below are as listed on Fastrack's site on that date.

Where Melbourne's driving experiences run

Fastrack's Melbourne V8 drives and hot laps run at Sandown Raceway. Its exotic car experiences also run at Sandown International Raceway. Rally School Australia lists its Melbourne location at Avalon.

Start with who drives. Drive laps put you behind the wheel with a coach beside you. For hot laps, you're the passenger and a professional driver drives. Our V8 driving experience guide explains the format.

"Supercar" can mean a V8 race car or an exotic road car, and the two are sold as separate products. Check the car and the lap type before you compare packages with similar names.

V8 drives and hot laps at Sandown

The packages on Fastrack's Sandown page carried the same names and prices as its Sydney list on 30 October 2026. A drive and ride combination gives you laps in both seats.

Prices in Australian dollars per person, as listed on Fastrack's site on 30 October 2026.

Fastrack says its driving packages include a Motorsport Australia accredited coach beside you for every lap, with instructions through a headset intercom. You don't need previous track experience. Allow about three hours for a drive, including sign-on, briefing, suiting up and laps. Rides alone take about 1.5 hours.

Lamborghini, Ferrari and Lotus at Sandown

Fastrack describes its exotic car offering as an appreciation drive rather than a race experience. The cars listed are the Lamborghini Gallardo, Ferrari 360 Modena and Lotus Elise. The Lamborghini and Ferrari use automated shifting derived from F1 technology; the Lotus cars are manual.

Prices in Australian dollars per person, as listed on Fastrack's Melbourne supercar page on 30 October 2026.

The Monza spreads its 12 drive laps across all three cars, so you get fewer laps in each one than the name might suggest. Our supercar driving experience guide explains the distinction between exotic cars and V8 race cars.

Rides for kids and non-drivers

Fastrack's Rookie Racer V8 rides suit children aged seven and over, and height and weight limits still apply.

Rookie Rider GT Track Laps is a separate passenger option in the exotic car list. The Qualifier is another passenger package in the V8 list. Both include two hot laps. The junior age guidance is published for Rookie Racer, so check the page for any other ride you're looking at.

Our hot laps guide explains riding as a passenger. If you're choosing a gift for someone who doesn't want to drive, check that the package lists ride laps rather than drive laps.

Rally near Melbourne

Rally School Australia's locations page lists a Melbourne location at Avalon. We haven't listed Avalon prices because we didn't check them, and prices at other Rally School locations may not apply. Its site has the current packages and dates.

Rules for Fastrack at Sandown

Fastrack's FAQ says drivers need a provisional or full car licence, with valid international licences accepted. It states no age limit for drives or rides, though licence and size requirements apply.

The FAQ gives a driver height range of 152cm to 194cm and a passenger range of 135cm to 194cm. Both require participants to weigh under 130kg. Fastrack's experiences page gives 135cm to 194cm for both roles, so confirm the applicable driver height requirement with Fastrack.

Automatic V8 race cars are available at Sandown. Mustangs are manual only. Participants must have a blood alcohol level of 0.00%, and the experiences aren't suitable for pregnant participants.

As listed on Fastrack's site on 30 October 2026, changes more than 14 days before the booking are free, changes eight to 14 days before cost $30, and changes less than seven days before cost $50. Missing the booking forfeits it.

Fastrack's terms give vouchers three years from issue and gift cards three years from purchase. Bookings, vouchers and gift cards are non-refundable. They can be transferred if the original purchaser gives notice before expiry. For a present, read our driving experience gift voucher guide alongside those terms.
