- Norwell lists two years of validity for gift vouchers.
On the Gold Coast, driving experiences mean Norwell Motorplex, where you can drive a Holden or Ford V8 race car or ride beside a professional for a few hot laps. It's also one of two venues we checked that take confident L platers, which matters if the driver is a teenager still on a learner's licence. Prices and rules were checked on the operators' own sites on 30 October 2026.
DrivingExperiences.com.au is a general information site operated by Dominet BV. We don't sell experiences or vouchers, take bookings or rank operators, and we don't receive payments from operators. Prices, age and licence rules, dates and voucher terms are set by each operator and change often, so check the operator's own page before you buy or book. Facts were checked on 30 October 2026. Read our general information notice. Gold Coast prices below are as listed on Norwell Motorplex's site on that date.
Where you drive on the Gold Coast
Norwell Motorplex runs the Supercars Official Driving Experience on its 2.1km circuit. The cars are Holden or Ford V8 race cars. Manual and automatic cars are available, and helmets are supplied.
Drive laps mean you're driving with an instructor or coach in the passenger seat. Ride laps, also called hot laps, put you in the passenger seat while a professional driver drives. A combined package includes both roles, so read each lap count separately.
Queensland Raceway at Willowbank, near Ipswich, is a different venue. Its experiences are covered in our Brisbane driving experience guide. For an explanation of the format, see our V8 driving experience guide.

In-car video, lap times and telemetry recording cost an extra $45, as listed on Norwell Motorplex's site on 30 October 2026.
Licence rules
Norwell welcomes confident learner drivers, P platers, full licence holders and drivers with international licences. Interstate visitors can take part with a current road licence; a Queensland licence isn't required.
Manual and automatic cars are both available, which helps if the driver has only ever driven an automatic.
Hot laps at Norwell
Norwell's three lap passenger ride costs $250, as listed on Norwell Motorplex's site on 30 October 2026. A professional driver drives while you ride as the passenger. Our hot laps guide explains that format.
The Norwell hot laps booking page sets a minimum age of 14 and a minimum height of 120cm. Participants must have zero blood alcohol. The package isn't suitable for pregnant participants.
Anyone under 18 needs a parent or guardian present to sign the indemnity form. Norwell gives the average duration as about 20 minutes, which covers the whole package rather than 20 minutes of laps.
Booking changes and vouchers
Norwell's hot laps booking terms allow free changes up to 48 hours before the booking. Within 48 hours, the reschedule fee is $25, as listed on Norwell Motorplex's booking page on 30 October 2026. Those terms were on the hot laps booking page, so check the terms for a drive package when you book it.
Norwell lists gift vouchers as valid for two years. If you're buying a gift, read the expiry and conditions before paying. Our driving experience gift voucher guide explains the points to check.
The ACCC's gift card guidance says gift cards bought on or after 1 November 2019 generally must be redeemable for at least three years. Exceptions include cards supplied at a genuine discount, promotional giveaways and cards available only for a specified period, among other categories.
Norwell's vouchers state two years, so the practical step is simple: note the expiry date shown on the voucher and pass it on with the gift. The ACCC says an expiry date must be prominently displayed, and if it's shown as a period the issue date must be shown too. If you have a question about a voucher's terms, ask Norwell first.
“Supercar” on the Gold Coast means V8 race cars
Norwell calls its program the Supercars Official Driving Experience. The name refers to the Supercars race series and its Holden and Ford V8s.
The word can also describe exotic road cars such as Lamborghini, Ferrari and Lotus. Those are a different type of experience. If that's the car you had in mind, our supercar driving experience guide explains the distinction.
Before you buy or book
