The main venue for driving experiences near Brisbane is Queensland Raceway at Willowbank, near Ipswich, where you can drive a V8 race car or sit in the passenger seat for hot laps or drift laps. Learner drivers can take the wheel here, as long as the logbook hours are there. Prices and rules were checked on the operators' own sites on 30 October 2026.
DrivingExperiences.com.au is a general information site operated by Dominet BV. We don't sell experiences or vouchers, take bookings or rank operators, and we don't receive payments from operators. Prices, age and licence rules, dates and voucher terms are set by each operator and change often, so check the operator's own page before you buy or book. Facts were checked on 30 October 2026. Read our general information notice. Brisbane prices below are the starting prices Queensland Raceway listed on that date.
Where to drive near Brisbane
Queensland Raceway sits at Willowbank, on the Ipswich side of Brisbane. Its home page gives the National Circuit as 3.126km, and also lists Clubman, Sprint and Sportsman layouts, so check which one your session uses.
There are two ways to do it. On drive laps you're at the wheel with an instructor beside you. On hot laps you're the passenger and a professional drives. Our hot laps guide covers the passenger side in more detail.
If you're happy to head south, Norwell Motorplex on the Gold Coast runs a separate V8 program with its own prices and rules. It's covered in our Gold Coast guide. Everything below applies to Queensland Raceway only.
The V8 Race Experience at Queensland Raceway
Queensland Raceway's V8 Race Experience page lists two versions:
- Ultimate Supercar Experience: a Ford Mustang GT or Chevrolet Camaro.
- Legendary Classic Experience: a Holden or Ford.
The Ultimate Supercar Experience starts at 5 laps, with extra laps or hot laps available on top. It was listed from $269 per person on Queensland Raceway's site on 30 October 2026. That's a starting price, so the final cost depends on the car, the number of laps and any add-ons you choose.
"Supercar" here means a V8 race car of the kind raced in the Supercars series, not a Lamborghini or Ferrari. Our supercar driving experience guide explains the two meanings, and the V8 driving experience guide compares V8 drives in each city.
Passenger rides: hot laps and drift
If the person going would rather not drive, Queensland Raceway lists two passenger options.
Starting prices per person, as listed on Queensland Raceway's site on 30 October 2026:
| Experience | What you get | From |
|---|---|---|
| Challenge Yourself | 3 laps as a passenger with former MotoGP rider Anthony West | $349 |
| Drift Experience | 3 laps as a passenger with a professional stunt driver | $199 |
The Drift Experience is a ride, not a drifting lesson. You sit beside the driver for the three laps.
Licence and age rules at Queensland Raceway
Drivers need at least a current learner's licence and 50 logbook hours. Norwell on the Gold Coast also takes confident L platers, while Fastrack and V8 Drive Day ask for at least a provisional licence. The cars are all 6 speed manuals, but you don't need a manual road licence.
Passengers must be over 7. Anyone under 18 needs parental permission, and a legal guardian has to sign the indemnity form and bring photo ID plus a Medicare listing that shows the child.
Clothing rules are simple: long sleeves, long pants and enclosed shoes. Queensland Raceway didn't publish height or weight limits on the pages we checked, so ask before you buy if the person is very tall or heavy.
On the day
Queensland Raceway asks you to arrive 15 minutes before your booking. Bring:
- photo ID
- your licence, if you're driving
- the voucher or booking confirmation
- for an under 18, the guardian's photo ID and the Medicare listing.
The laps themselves are a small part of the visit once sign-on and the briefing are included, so plan for more than the lap count suggests. The V8 Race Experience page has the session details.
Rally near Brisbane
Rally School Australia's locations page lists an Ipswich location at Willowbank. We didn't check its Ipswich packages or prices, and Queensland Raceway's rules don't apply to it, so read Rally School's own page for dates and requirements.
